I also learnt that different fluids have different upthrust and viscosity. </div><div class="nobrtable">________________________________________________________________________</div><div class="nobrtable"><br /></div><div class="nobrtable">Discuss any learning points from today's activities.</div><div class="nobrtable"><br /></div><div class="nobrtable">We can indirectly measure an angle by using trigonometry. The angle will be called angle a. By keeping a length of the triangle constant, we can vary the other two. The first length of the triangle is the distance which ball travels from where it is being released to the point it hits the horizontal track. The second length is the length from the angle of incidence to the retort stand. The third length is the length from the inclined track where the ball is being released to the base of the retort stand. This length should be perpendicular to the base of the setup. The second length should be constant throughout the whole experiment. This second length is called the adjacent (A). The first length is called the hypotenuse (H) while the third length is called the opposite (O). </div><div class="nobrtable">O = H x sin (a)</div><div class="nobrtable">When we have angle a to be 30˚ and H to be 49 centimetres,</div><div class="nobrtable">O = 49 x sin (30˚)<br /><br />How do you feel about today's activities?<br /><br />I think that today's activities were exciting and being able to know the angle of inclination that will help us get the fastest timing might be of use in other school projects. </div><div class="nobrtable">________________________________________________________________________<br /><br />Describe how the project has affected your understanding of the discipline and how it may be applied elsewhere.<br /><br />I used to think that the angle of inclination that will have the fastest timing for a ball to travel is 45˚. It would be difficult to test the angle of inclination as we have to calculate the angle of inclination in order to have the ball to travel across a horizontal track the fastest.<br />The Extraction of Caffeine from Beverages sounded interesting as it is an experiment that I have not done before or even hear about it.<br />________________________________________________________________________<br /><br />What do you think you can learn from this project?<br /><br />I think I will be able to learn how to use the photogate sensor from the Fastest Ball Challenge and learn how to use new apparatus that I have not seen before.
